Pre-operative fear accompanies nearly all patients. However, the majority of them are scared of anesthesia more than of the surgery itself. They frequently ask the following questions: “Will I wake up?”, “Will I not wake up during the surgery and I won’t be able to say anything, but feel everything?”.
Anesthesiologists are responsible for anesthesia. They prepare patients for the surgery, supervises the course of anesthesia and post-operative care, including the treatment of pain. Anesthesiologists are also involved in a field of medicine called intensive care, therefore they have complex knowledge and skills essential for guiding the patient through surgery and the post-operative period. We can say that they are guardian angels for the patients. Anesthesiologists are always accompanied by qualified anesthetic nurse.
In order to perform anesthesia, appropriate equipment is necessary, most of all an anesthetic machine. At the AMC Art Medical Center we have equipment manufactured by the world’s leader in the field of anesthesiology – Draeger. It is a Primus class machine, which is a S-class Mercedes among anesthetic machines; it allows complete monitoring and prompt reaction in any situation.
At our medical center we are mostly motivated by the safety of Our Patients, therefore our equipment must be high class equipment. Anesthesia in the form of medications used by us is safe. These medications constitute modern achievements of anesthesiology, they are not toxic (e.g. they do not cause hair loss), and they are used by numerous renown clinics throughout the world.
If possible, we apply complex forms of anesthesia, combining techniques of local anesthesia, regional anesthesia (blocking single nerves, plexuses, central blockage) with general anesthesia. It ensures the safest conditions to perform surgeries, it constitutes the least burden to the human body and it allows the patients to feel much better after the procedure.
The methods of regional anesthesia are completely safe and acknowledge throughout the world. Combined methods of anesthesia allow the AMC Art Medical Center team to perform the most complex surgeries in the field of plastic surgeries, reconstruction surgeries, orthopedic surgeries or gynecological surgeries.
The issue of post-operative pain is very important for us. Applying global standards in this field we make every effort to maximize the comfort of Our Patients in this difficult post-operative period.
After their surgeries, Patients remain in the recovery room which allows complete monitoring and is equipped at a hospital level, and qualified nurses watch over their safety. Apart from monitoring and treating pain, we also perform appropriate fluid therapy, preventive treatment using antibiotics, anticoagulation treatment and many others. Through pharmacology, we prevent nausea and vomiting, and if they appear, we treat them effectively.
We also emphasize quick rehabilitation and recovery so that the patients can go back to their regular life and after the procedure we include fluids and foods administered orally in the treatment.
I tell Our Patients with clear conscience that they can feel safe at our center, that they will certainly wake up and that we will do everything we can to ensure that they remember their stay at AMC as a positive experience.
